We are currently looking for a Facilities Assistant (Housekeeping) to join our team at YESS!

Job Summary


Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the Facilities Assistant assists with all aspects of cleaning and maintaining for all agency buildings as required and provides support to the agency when needed.

Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.


Responsibilities


  • Housekeeping and operations
    • Daily sweeping and mopping of floors
    • Daily cleaning of washrooms and shower stalls
    • Weekly disinfecting of beds        
    • Provide support in picking up or dropping off any donated items to the community
    • Advise Facilities Supervisor of any building/equipment concerns in a timely manner
    • Support when necessary inventory of supplies and equipment weekly for the Facilities Supervisor
    • Complete daily cleaning checklist
    • Wipe and disinfect dining areas after each meal
    • Wash, dry, fold and store kitchen laundry
    • Emptying garbage daily
    • Disinfecting of youth lockers
    • Wash, dry and store laundry daily
    • Dust, spot wash walls, handrails, doors and ledges daily as needed
    • Ensure all daily housekeeping, organization, sanitizing, laundry and other cleaning work is carried out as per building checks and as directed by the Facilities Supervisor
  • Assist the Facilities Team
    • Participate in seasonal cleaning and yard maintenance of all YESS locations
    • Ensure all donation rooms are kept tidy and orderly
    • Provide set-up and tear-down for special events as required
    • Assist with all other duties and activities as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor
    • Any other duties as required


 Other Duties Include

  • Promote the Agency in a positive manner to the community
  • Participate in staff training as required
  • Assist with fundraising activities when available 
  • Other duties as assigned


 Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years' experience working in a similar role
  • High school diploma
  • Standard First Aid Certificate 


Other Requirements

  • Must possess a Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Must possess Criminal Record (CRIM) and Child and Youth Intervention (CYIM) checks that are no more than six (6) months old
  • Proof of vehicle insurance (at least $ 1 million third party liability)
  • Able to lift 40-50 lbs and go upstairs (frequently)
  • Ability to be on the move and stand for long periods
  • Working in a not-for-profit would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and keep motivated to complete projects in a timely manner
  • Must be organized and have great attention to detail
  • Must be able to come up with creative solutions to problems as they arise
  • Written and verbal communication skills required
