Job Summary


This individual will oversee and manage facilities and kitchens departments, work collaboratively with CEO and executive team to align with strategic priorities.


 


Responsibilities


  • Oversee maintenance of Agency buildings, grounds, and kitchens to meet YESS and licensing standards


    • Oversee departmental projects and operations to ensure all YESS buildings are safe and all repairs are completed, while understanding heritage restrictions
    • Oversee maintenance and kitchen projects from the high-level perspective of standards and requirements
    • Oversee the Health and Safety program and deliverable owned by the Facilities Supervisor
    • Work directly with the Facilities Supervisor and Kitchen Team in estimating and staffing projects
    • Keep aware and up to date of changes in regulations, standards, or building requirements
    • Keep up to date records of projects and adhere to stated project budgets
  • Manage Facilities and Kitchen Supervisors


    • Provide oversight, coaching, supervision and daily leadership to the Facilities Supervisor and Kitchen Supervisor, in support of their own team and project management.
    • Provide monthly supervisions and ongoing feedback to supervisors and teams
    • Understand the capacity needs of the supervisors and provide coaching, instruction or refer to training when needed
    • Conduct yearly performance evaluations of supervisors and oversee their yearly evaluations of staff
    • Work with Director of Operations and Fund Development to integrate organization vision and strategic plan into daily operations
  • Active participation on the Management Team


    • Support the CEO, Executive Team, and Board of Directors in managing the Facilities and Kitchen Teams and the Agency
    • Actively contribute ideas to strategic plan
    • Provide updates every three months in Managers Meetings
    • Collaborate and support other managers on an on-going basis
  • Manage Facilities portion of annual budget


    • Provide information on special project requirements to CEO in forecasting annual budget and support the Facilities and Kitchen Supervisors in their managing of their budgets
    • Oversee the functioning of kitchen and facilities departments to ensure adherence to forecasted budget


 Other Duties Include


  • Promote the Agency in a positive manner to the community
  • Participate in staff training as required
  • Assist with fundraising activities when available 
  • Other duties as assigned


 


 Qualifications


  • Experience managing multiple teams (5+ years would be considered an asset)
  • Experience with project management an asset (coordinating, estimating, implementing, tracking and managing)
  • Maintenance experience is essential
  • Kitchen operations experience is desired
  • Willingness to learn and work within a unique environment
  • Experience working with youth experiencing homelessness and high risk behaviours an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively on a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficient in use of computers and other office equipment is an asset
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of general office procedures
  • Meticulous records maintenance skills.
  • Able to manage time efficiently and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Superior telephone manners and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.


 


Other Requirements


  • Criminal Record Check (CRIM) and Child and Youth Intervention Check (CYIM) that are no more than six (6) months old
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate
