Coordinated Youth Response Coordinator

 

Reports to: Manager of Supportive Housing and Services

 

Job Summary

The purpose of this job will be to coordinate and provide support to YESS Coordinated Youth Response (CYR) team. As a CYR Coordinator, you will be responsible in liaising between YESS and CYR partners ensuring that program participants receive appropriate needs assessment and complete referrals, outreach work when needed and be responsible in providing appropriate support for youth in isolation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage phone lines for CYR
  • Coordinate CYR schedules for CYR team including Support Services
  • Coordinate transportation for isolation youth
  • Complete intakes of youth for CYR and isolation
  • Coverage for isolation program when needed
  • Liaise with services for youth such as the food bank, other housing agencies, medical services, and educational institutions
  • Recruitment and assessment of participants for YEEP
  • Ensure adequate supplies of PPE  
  • Engage and support youth to understand isolation needs and expectations
  • Identify and assess supports and referrals
  • Provide advocacy supports when needed
  • Educating and motivating youth to engage in or directly connect youth to YESS programming and services
  • Complete accurate documentation and assist with data collection to support program outcomes
  • Maintain a healthy environment by learning and adhering to isolation techniques
  • Adhere to AHS and YESS isolation policies
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

In addition to the position description provided above, all YESS Employees are responsible for the following

  • Advocate for youth and assist them to self-advocate
  • Promote the Agency in a positive manner to the outside community
  • Participate in fundraising activities as required

 

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Child & Youth Care or related Human Services field
  • A minimum one-year experience in Youth Work or Social Work
  • A minimum two-year experience in outreach work
  • Experience working in a shelters or drop-in centers will be considered an asset
  • CYCAA Child and Youth Care certification will be considered an asset
  • Must have valid Standard First Aid and NVCI (Nonviolent crisis intervention training)
  • Ability to work in a highly stressful and ever-changing environment
  • Ability to work without supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Computer literacy is a must
  • Able to handle multiple demands at the same time; exceptionally well organized
  • Knows how to problem-solve with people who face emotional and psychological challenges
  • Ability to learn new skills with a great attention to detail
  • Understands the challenges and stresses facing people who live in poverty
  • Treat people with respect and in a sensitive manner
  • Possessing Harm Reduction principles is a must
  • Can de-escalate tense inter-personal and group situations
  • Possess robust mental health and a commitment to self-care
  • Experience working with marginalized communities is an asset

 

Other Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must possess Criminal Record (CRIM) and Child and Youth Intervention (CYIM) checks that are no more than six (6) months old, these will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
  • Proof of vehicle insurance (at least $ 1 million third party liability).
